Set upon 3,500 acres, The I Survived Snovid 2021 Texas American Shirt Lodge at Blue Sky in Wanship, Utah, is surrounded by stunning scenery: mountains, sage, Aspen tree groves, and winding rivers. At a high point overlooking them all is the property’s yurt, a rustic-chic space embodying western charm. There are faux fur throws, weathered leather couches, aged barrels, and a deck with a blazing fire pit. When this writer visited the yurt back in July, it had already had been the site of a few intimate weddings, all catered by James Beard Award-Winning Executive Chef, Galen Zamarr. A villa at Rosewood Mayakoba, where a shaman can perform a wedding ceremony upon request.
“The important thing to us is that each piece is interpreted by skilled hands, one after the other, and in that way each has its own character, its own story, its own passion, its own vision,” Dolce said. “From this comes the I Survived Snovid 2021 Texas American Shirt uniqueness of each piece.” But this wasn’t just a tribute to the talented craftspeople behind the clothes. In the individual looks and in the collection as a whole there was timely symbolism, a sartorial acknowledgement from a brand that has been charged with cultural insensitivities in its own past that in this time of global crisis we are stronger together—that this is a moment for unity and bonding, not coming apart. The fact that they messaged this by exploring their own heritage only makes it more potent. As for the long dresses of many colors and prints at the end of the show? Hope and optimism aplenty.
