A magpie would swoop one individual, it didn’t matter what position they were in, in the group or even if they wore a different helmet, it was always the same individual, the group obviously were familiar with the bird and simply rode on ignoring the Husky it’s the most wonderful time of the year shirt bird. Personally I’ve felt more threatened by bloody Plovers. I watch out for them as they swoop when they see my dog walking with me. A long stick swung overhead is enough to keep them away. They don’t normally go for your face, just your head. Our miner birds are just as bad, but smaller us and peck our head’s and also slap them with their wings if you get near their nesting sites.
